Validation Surveys
A validation survey is a non-intrusive assessment of communal areas throughout the building. Our experts will cast their eyes over any previously completed remedial works to ensure their compliancy, whilst giving a broad overview of any further remedial works needed. The survey itself consists of varied inspections, from fire doors and passive fire protection to generic compartmentation of the building.
Not to be confused with a fire risk assessment, fire validations are a flexible way to get a hold on what needs to be done; we’re able to work to your needs, including providing information regarding electrical, gas or plumbing hazards which will require further assessment from a third party.
Fire Door Inspections
Our fire door inspections look at existing fire doors and determine if they are compliant and certified. The survey will establish the if the doors can be improved under BS 8214 or should be replaced with a certified Fire Door set tested to BS 476-22 or BS 476-31.1. A thorough survey is issued that details recommendations and improvements needed.
We photograph and report the following points: Construction of the door and also the material used. Do the hinges conform to BS EN 1935? Is the self-closer adequate and does it conform to standards. Do the gaps exceed the required specifications and has the overall installation of the door set been compliant. If fire rated glass is present are the correct markings present? Are there adequate smoke and heat seals within the door frame.
All door sets inspected by Excel Fire Ltd are QR asset tagged in line with the golden thread regime linked to our cloud based dashboard allowing client access to all inspections undertaken. Once completed, an easy to navigate PDF report will be issued along with a schedule of remedial works for each door set.
Fire Stopping Inspections
Our fire stopping inspections are designed to ensure your property/building meets the required compartmentation between fire separating walls and ceilings.
Our Level 3 Accredited & UKAS 3rd Party Certified Inspectors will inspect and identify M&E penetrations, Structural Fire Protections such as steels and boardings and any other passive fire protection irregularities.
Within the reports, photographic evidence will be provided along with access issues, substrates, sizes and measurements, non-conformities and recommended compliant installations in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications and guidelines.
Even in hard to reach places such as loft voids, or suspended ceilings, we can inspect these areas for you.
